Lyle Thompson to headline Atlanta art show on Feb. 22

The show will highlight personal artwork from Atlanta’s sports community

(DULUTH, Ga.) – Georgia Swarm forward and 2017 NLL MVP Lyle Thompson will have his personal artwork on display during the ‘The Art of Sport’ art show this Thursday, Feb. 22. The event is taking place at the Spare Time Gallery inside the Miami Ad School @ Portfolio Center from 6-10 p.m. ET in Atlanta.

The Miami Ad School @ Portfolio Center is showcasing the personal artwork from over 40 members of Georgia’s top sports organizations and creative companies working with them, including the Atlanta Falcons, Atlanta Braves, Atlanta Hawks, Atlanta United FC and Georgia Swarm.

“We’re thrilled to showcase our second exhibit at Spare Time Gallery highlighting art work from the world of sports and the professionals that make it happen,” said Pippa Seichrist, Co-Founder of Miami Ad School. “Our goal is to showcase art so guests see it on display while also participating in the making of it.”

Lyle, in addition to being a world-class lacrosse player, is also a talented professional graphic artist. Thompson, who is from the Onondaga Reservation in Western New York, incorporates his Native American roots and the sport of lacrosse into his drawings.

Outside of playing professionally, Lyle and his three older brothers operate their own lacrosse company, Thompson Brothers Lacrosse. The 2017 NLL MVP designs all of TBL’s logos and apparel, and has inspired several high-profile projects with NIKE. Lyle has worked with NIKE to design cleats, most recently his signature NIKE Alpha Huarache 6 Elite Eyes lacrosse cleat/turf shoe, and his artwork inspired the N7 Spirit of Protection Collection, which celebrates Native American athletes.

“I’m looking forward to coming down,” Lyle said. “Learning for me is the biggest thing because I had the opportunity to be an art major in college… Here’s another opportunity for me to learn about the career I’m already in.”

General admission to the show is free. To register, visit here: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/the-art-of-sport-atlopening-party-tickets-42797949820
