PLAYOFF FORMAT AND TIEBREAKERS

The following is the format for the NLL post-season:

  • Eight of the fourteen teams have earned playoff berths. The top four teams in the East Conference made the playoffs. The top three teams in the West Conference made the playoffs.
  • The eighth playoff spot was determined by the highest-seeded team between the fifth place team in the East versus the fourth place team in the West as determined by League tiebreaker rules.
  • Round one of the playoffs will be single elimination and have the following matchups: 1 vs. 4, 2 vs. 3 in each Conference. Should the fifth best team in the East make the playoffs, they will be seeded as the fourth place team in the West.
  • Round one winning teams will stay in their designated Conferences for round two of the playoffs. The games will be a best two out of three with game one and game three, if necessary, be hosted by the highest seed. The Championship will be a best two out of three with game one and game three, if necessary, be hosted by the highest seed.
  • In the event of an overall standings tie involving three or more clubs, divisional tiebreakers shall be first applied (divison record) to break ties of clubs within the division. Overall tiebreakers shall then be applied between the top seeded tied club of each division. Tiebreakers will then be re-applied between the loser of that tiebreaker and the next seeded club with the same record.
