(Monday, Nov. 9) – The Georgia Swarm today announced that it has signed ‘15 No. 3 overall pick Jesse King to a two-year contract.

King, 23, was touted as the top lefty forward in the 2015 NLL Draft with his 6-foot-3, 200-pound frame and his natural ability to create space for both himself and teammates. As Ohio State’s team captain during his senior season this past spring, the Victoria, British Columbia native led the Buckeyes in all major scoring categories – points (77), goals (42) and assists (35). His 77 points were the most in the program since 1979, and he posted a career-high nine points in the NCAA Quarterfinals against the eventual champs, Denver. King finished his decorated four-year career ranked fourth all-time in Buckeye history with 208 points and 119 goals, and first in game-winning goals (seven). King was also a three-time USILA All-American and Tewaaraton Trophy finalist.

This past summer, King helped lead the WLA's Victoria Shamrocks to a Mann Cup title after posting a team-high 33 goals in the regular season in 16 games. He also collected a gold medal with Team Canada at the 2014 FIL World Championships (Field Lacrosse) in Denver.

“We’re very excited to add Jesse to our left-side with his playmaking abilities,” Swarm Owner and General Manager John Arlotta said. “He has outstanding athleticism for his size, and he’s not only a natural scorer, but he’s also a great distributor and has a knack for doing the little things offball. He’s a player who will make everyone around him better.”

The Swarm also announced that it has signed free agent defenseman Mitch Dumont to a one-year agreement. The 29-year-old has spent the past four seasons with St. Catharines (Senior B) and Niagara (CLax). The 6-foot-2, 190-pound lefty attended training camp with the Rochester Knighthawks last season.

“We watched Mitch play this summer and liked his defensive game,” Swarm head coach Ed Comeau said. “He’s also played with Swarm players Kiel Matisz and Jordan Houtby.”
