Swarm Kick Off Free Agency Signing Mike Manley

Duluth, Ga. (August 17, 2022) – The National Lacrosse League free agency began Monday, August 15, and the Georgia Swarm started the period with a bang, signing standout defender Mike Manley to a two-year agreement.

“We are really excited to have Mike Manley join the Swarm,” said Owner and General Manager John Arlotta. “He is a big, physical defender and he fits great in our locker room.”

Manley started his NLL journey in 2012 after being selected by the Philadelphia Wings 32nd overall in the Entry Draft. Manley was acquired by the New York Riptide in the 2019 Expansion Draft and was signed over to the Rochester Knighthawks after one season.

During the 2019-20 season with the Riptide, Manley played in six games, recording 19 loose balls and eight penalty minutes. The Penn Yan, New York native played in 64 NLL games, totaling five goals, 20 assists, and 245 loose balls.

“We welcome Mike with his defensive prowess as he has lots of attributes that will be extremely helpful for our defense.” said Assistant Coach Sean Ferris. “Mike Manley is a veteran player in the league and has many years of indoor experience. He will bring knowledge to our mix of young and veteran defenders as well as can step up to take face offs. I am looking forward to working with him.”

The 6-foot-2, 235-pound defenseman comes to the Swarm not only with box lacrosse experience but is a threat in field lacrosse. Manley is a 2x Defensive Player of the Year and a 4x All-Star. Manley has suited up with the Chrome since the Premier Lacrosse League’s 2019 inaugural season. The 2012 Duke University graduate was a 3x USILA All-American Selection and 2007 ACC Rookie of the Year.
