Swarm enters 2017 NLL Draft with three first-round picks

NLL Champions have 12 picks in Draft this upcoming Monday, Sept. 18

(TORONTO) – The 2017 NLL Draft will take place on Monday, Sept. 18, and the NLL World Champion Georgia Swarm will make an impact early.

Georgia, coming off a historic season where the team finished as NLL Champions, has three first-round picks: Nos. 4, 7, and 9. Fans can catch all the NLL Draft action live via NLLTV.com starting at 6:30 p.m. ET.

“In 2017, we rolled out a championship team that featured 16 players who were first-rounders,” Swarm Owner and General Manager John Arlotta said. “The draft has always been an important part of our strategy and continued successes as an organization. This draft will have us focusing on high-caliber and character individuals capable of joining an elite Swarm squad to help us compete for a second straight Champion’s Cup.”

During the 2016 NLL Draft, the Swarm strengthened up the defensive end, selecting Bryan Cole (No. 4) and Connor Sellars (No. 10) in the first round. Both were key contributors in the backend during the season and gelled well with their veteran teammates to help significantly improve the Swarm’s defense.

Georgia opens the 2017-18 season on Dec. 8 against the New England Black Wolves at Mohegan Sun Arena. Faceoff is set for 7:30 p.m. ET. Georgia’s first home game at Harrah’s Cherokee Casino Field at Infinite Energy Arena will be on Saturday, Dec. 30 at 7:05 p.m. ET when the team welcomes the Rochester Knighthawks. The Swarm will have a banner raising ceremony that evening to celebrate their first-ever Champion’s Cup title.

With the purchase of four (4) Season Tickets, fans can receive a replica Swarm Championship Ring. Season Ticket packages include 10 games and a handful of VIP benefits. Call 844-4-GASWARM or visit GeorgiaSwarm.com/SeasonTickets to purchase your tickets and help the Swarm Defend the Cup!
