(Sept. 15, 2016) – The National Lacrosse League (NLL) today announced the home opener schedule for the 2017 NLL regular season. The Georgia Swarm will open its season at The Hive for a showdown against the two-time defending champion Saskatchewan Rush on Saturday, Jan. 7 at 7:05 p.m. from Harrah’s Cherokee Casino Field at Infinite Energy Arena.
Over 9,000 fans witnessed Georgia win its inaugural home opener this past January against the Toronto Rock; the game also aired on FOX Sports Southeast. The Swarm finished 8-10 in 2016 and clinched a playoff spot in the East Division. On Sept. 26, Georgia will make three Top 10 selections during the NLL Draft to help bolster an already talented core of young and athletic players.
“We’re looking forward to opening the regular season in front of our home fans this year,” Swarm Co-Owner and President Andy Arlotta said. “Last year’s home opener had an electric atmosphere and we’re planning to make this year’s experience even better for our fans. We will have a very exciting team to cheer for again in 2017 and there’s no better way to open the season than against the two-time defending champs.”
