Jordan Hall and Kiel Matisz selected in 2018 NLL Expansion Draft

Hall and Matisz were both drafted by the Philadelphia Wings

On Monday afternoon, Georgia Swarm forwards Jordan Hall and Kiel Matisz were selected in the 2018 NLL Expansion Draft. Matisz and Hall were both picked by the Philadelphia Wings, Matisz in the 2nd round and Hall in the 3rd round.

“Today’s expansion draft represents a great day for the National Lacrosse League,” Swarm Owner and General Manager John Arlotta said. “The addition of teams in San Diego and Philadelphia with amazing new ownership groups shows how exciting the future is for our league. The way the expansion draft was designed, both these teams will have an opportunity to be competitive out of the gates.

“With that said, it is a difficult day for the Swarm as we have lost two players who have been great both on and off the field. We will miss Jordan Hall and Kiel Matisz, and we thank them both for all they have done for the Swarm organization.”

Hall, 33, was acquired by the Swarm in 2016 in a trade with the New England Black Wolves. An 11-year NLL veteran, Hall’s presence was an integral part of the Swarm winning its first-ever NLL World Championship in 2017. With the Swarm, Hall recorded 112 points (34G, 78A), 108 loose balls, eight caused turnovers, and posted a .202 SPCT in 28 games. In five postseason games with the Swarm, Hall recorded 19 points (12G, 7A), 20 loose balls, two caused turnovers, and a .480 SPCT.

Matisz, 29, was drafted by the Swarm in the first round (No. 3 overall) of the 2012 NLL Draft. He has spent his entire career with the organization. The Robert Morris University alum was a key component of the Swarm’s championship offense, and he set new career-highs in goals with 28 in 2017 and assists with 50 in 2017-18. Over six seasons, Matisz posted 325 points (118G, 207A), 373 loose balls, 26 caused turnovers, and has a career .141 SPCT in 98 games played. In seven postseason games, Matisz recorded 25 points (9G, 16A), 16 loose balls, and a .167 SPCT.
