SWARM WELCOME ALEX CREPINSEK TO COACHING STAFF

DULUTH, GA – MARCH 12, 2024 – The Georgia Swarm have brought back Alex Crepinsek as their newest addition to the coaching staff. Crepinsek, a former Swarm defensive player, steps into the role of Assistant Coach with a focus on the team’s defense.

Owner and General Manager John Arlotta stated, “We are thrilled to have Alex return to the Swarm. His instrumental role in our 2017 NLL Championship victory as a player speaks volumes about his potential impact as a coach in our pursuit of the 2024 championship.” Arlotta added, “Moreover, his coaching experience in the Ontario Junior Lacrosse League adds valuable insight as we scout talent for future NLL Entry Drafts.”

Crepinsek, originally from Oakville, Ontario, began his lacrosse career with the Jr. B Oakville Buzz in 2006. He was a member of the team that won a Founders Cup. Thereafter, he ascended to the Jr. A Burlington Chiefs in 2007, where he exhibited his skills until 2010. He continued his lacrosse journey at the Rochester Institute of Technology, where he clinched three conference championships.

Selected in the first round of the 2012 NLL Draft by the Minnesota Swarm, Crepinsek made an immediate impact during his rookie season by setting a Swarm rookie record with 18 loose balls. Subsequently, he earned a two-year contract extension, solidifying his status as a key player. Crepinsek’s tenure with the Swarm spanned from 2012 to 2020, including a memorable championship-winning campaign in 2017. Throughout his career, he had 16 goals and 47 assists across 166 games with the Minnesota Swarm (2012-2016), Georgia Swarm (2016-2020), and Philadelphia Wings (2022-2023).

Head Coach Ed Comeau expressed his enthusiasm about Crepinsek’s addition to the coaching staff, stating, “After a distinguished NLL career, predominantly with the Swarm, we are thrilled to have Alex join our coaching staff. His coaching tenure with the Burlington Blaze and recent Minto Cup victory provide invaluable defensive acumen and insight into league talent, bolstering our players and coaching staff.”

Coach Crepinsek resides in Waterdown, Ontario, with his wife, while also coaching the Burlington Blaze Jr. Lacrosse team in the Ontario Jr. Lacrosse League.

Crepinsek expressed his gratitude, saying, “I’m grateful to John and Andy Arlotta for entrusting me with this opportunity to return to the Swarm organization. I’m eager to learn from the experienced and successful coaching staff comprising of Eddie, Sean (Ferris), and Andy (Secore).”
