Swarm visits Governor Deal to celebrate title

L to R: Mike Poulin, Gov. Deal, Andy Arlotta, Major General Joe Jarrard

(ATLANTA) – The Georgia Swarm Pro Lacrosse team was a welcomed guest of Governor Nathan Deal Tuesday morning at the Georgia State Capitol building to celebrate the Swarm’s recent NLL Champion’s Cup victory that took place on June 10.

Swarm Co-Owner and President Andy Arlotta alongside goaltender Mike Poulin presented the Champion’s Cup Trophy to Gov. Deal as well as gifted the Governor with a Swarm jersey, Championship t-shirt, and hat. Also in attendance at the Governor’s Office to show his support of the Swarm was Major General Joe Jarrard, Adjutant General of the Georgia Department of Defense.

During the meeting, Gov. Deal officially proclaimed June 20 as ‘Georgia Swarm Day’ in honor of the Swarm’s first-ever Champion’s Cup crown and presented the team with a signed proclamation letter. Georgia finished the 2017 season with a 17-5 overall record and swept the two-timing defending champions, the Saskatchewan Rush, in the Champion’s Cup Series.

“I am proud to proclaim today ‘Georgia Swarm Day’ in honor of Georgia’s own 2017 National Lacrosse League Champions, the Georgia Swarm,” said Gov. Nathan Deal. “In only the team’s second season in Georgia, players and coaches came together to bring home the Champion’s Cup. The Swarm has demonstrated competitive spirit and dedication, representing the State of Georgia this season with pride. We look forward to many more championships in the years to come.”

“We’re extremely grateful and proud to receive a proclamation letter from Governor Nathan Deal,” said Andy Arlotta, Swarm Co-Owner and President. “It’s truly an honor to proclaim today, ‘Georgia Swarm Day’ and June 20th will forever celebrate how hard our organization worked both on and off the floor to bring a world championship to Georgia. I’d like to thank Governor Deal and his staff, along with Major General Joe Jarrard for taking the time to meet with us this morning to celebrate our championship.”
