Swarm Sign Steven Portelli and Trade Sam Firth

DULUTH, Ga. (September 20, 2021) – The Georgia Swarm signed right-handed forward Steven Portelli to a two-year contract as well as traded Sam Firth to the Colorado Mamouth for a fifth-round selection in the 2022 NLL Entry Draft.

Portelli most recently comes from the Oakville Buzz where he played in four games and tallied one goal throughout the 2020-21 season. The 22-year-old totaled 22 assists and 15 goals for 37 points during his three seasons (2017-19) with the Halton Hills Bulldogs. In Portelli’s first year with Halton Hills, he dished out the most assists in a single season throughout his three years with the Bulldogs totaling nine. During his final season with Halton Hills, he scored nine goals which was a career-best with the squad.

The Georgetown, Ontario native played one season in the Canadian University Lacrosse Association (CUFLA) and totaled five points while playing with Carleton. He netted five goals while giving out two assists with the squad.

The Swarm traded its No. 39 overall pick in the 2020 Entry Draft, Sam Firth to Colorado. Firth did not have the chance to play with Georgia as the 2020-21 season was canceled.

The Swarm also added placed Ryan Lanchbury, Wheaton Jackoboice, Devin Pfeifer, Morrison Mirer and Brad Apgar on the Draft List.

The Georgia Swarm returns to Harrah’s Cherokee Casino Field at Gas South Arena on Dec. 4.
