Swarm re-signs Bryan Cole to three-year deal

Swarm locks up Maryland alum through 2020-21 season

The Georgia Swarm today announced that it has re-signed transition player Bryan Cole to a three-year deal.

“Bryan has been one of our top defenders over the last two years and was instrumental as a rookie in helping us win the NLL championship,” Swarm Owner and General Manager John Arlotta said. “He is great on the floor, and equally good in the community, where he works to teach lacrosse during the season.  We are excited to announce that he has signed a three-year contract to help the Swarm continue to pursue championships while at the same time growing the game of lacrosse in Atlanta.”

Cole, 24, was selected No. 4 overall in the 2016 NLL Entry Draft. A graduate of University of Maryland, the left-hander has quickly become a core component of the Swarm defense, particularly the penalty kill unit.

The Oakville, Ontario native set new career-highs in his sophomore season in assists, points, shorthand goals, loose balls, and shooting percentage. In 18 games in 2017-18, Cole finished with 14 points (6G, 8A), two shorthand goals, 95 loose balls, 15 caused turnovers, and a .250 SPCT.

“I’m very excited about re-signing with the Swarm for the next three years,” Cole said. “I think we have an excellent group of guys and a great leadership core. I’m really pumped to see everyone again, have a great training camp, and hit the ground running against the defending champs in our Home Opener on Dec. 1.”

Listed at 6-foot-3 and 190 pounds, Cole was part of the strong Swarm 2017 rookie class that helped the franchise win its first-ever NLL Cup.

In 35 career regular season games, Cole has 25 points (12G, 13A), 149 loose balls, and 30 caused turnover. Cole also has three points (2G, 1A), 16 loose balls, and two caused turnovers through five postseason games.

The contract is pending league approval.
