Swarm Outlast Panther City 12-10

DULUTH, GA. (January 10, 2024)- The Georgia Swarm (4-1) outlasted Panther City Lacrosse Club (1-3) with a 12-10 victory on January 6, 2023, at Gas South Arena.  

Swarm players Jordan Macintosh and Jeremy Thompson each made history as Maclntosh passed Mark Steenhuis for seventh on all-time loose ball recoveries and Jeremy Thompson became the sixth player in history to recover 1,700 loose balls. 

Shayne Jackson led the Swarm in goals and assists on Saturday, with six goals and four assists, securing himself a sock trick. Lyle Thompson tallied three goals of his own, Andrew Kew had two and Bryan Cole scored one. Brett Dobson saved 48 out of 58 shots on goal for the Swarm defensively.  

The Swarm began the game with a strong first half performance, securing 9 of its 12 total points in the first two quarters. Jackson scored the first goal of the night and the Swarm earned three straights to close out the first quarter, 4-1.  

During the second quarter, Cole and Lyle Thompson each scored within three minutes of game play and the Swarm again closed out the quarter with back-to-back-to-back goals. 

 

Despite a 9-4 Swarm lead going into halftime, Panther City attempted to come back and responded with a shutout third quarter, 4-0. Panther City continued its momentum and struck first in the final quarter to tie the game at 9 each.  

 

However, Jackson answered with the Swarm’s first goal of the half and regained the lead. A Panther City goal again tied the game with only five minutes to go. Jackson scored again to reclaim the lead and Thompson closed out the game with a goal to secure the victory.  

 

The Swarm will face the undefeated Albany Firewolves (5-0) on January 13 at Gas South Arena at 7:30 p.m. EST. The matchup will honor the Swarm’s 10 native players during Native Heritage Night.
