Swarm ink Noble to 3-year deal; sign rookie Seidel

(Wednesday, Oct. 7) – The National Lacrosse League’s (NLL) Georgia Swarm today announced that it has re-signed transition player Jason Noble to a three-year contract and signed rookie defenseman Michael Seidel (No. 29 overall) to a two-year deal.

Noble, 24, finished his second season with the Swarm in 2015 and posted four points (1G, 3A), 61 loose balls and 17 forced turnovers in 18 games of action. The Cornell University product was the No. 2 overall selection in the 2013 NLL Draft after an outstanding collegiate career where he was a three-time All-America selection and a first team Lowe's Senior CLASS Award winner during his senior season as Cornell's team captain.

During last year’s regular season finale against Rochester, the 5-foot-10, 170-pound transition player used his speed to sink the game-winning goal in overtime on a fastbreak opportunity. The goal, which was Noble’s first career score, helped the Swarm finish the 2015 campaign on a winning note. With his unique blend of speed, athleticism, and grit, Noble gives Georgia a dynamic player on both defense and in transition.

“Jason continues to improve his game every time he steps out on the floor,” Swarm Owner and General Manager John Arlotta said. “We know the best is yet to come from him and we’re excited to have him for the next three seasons. In addition to being a great teammate, he brings a winning attitude to our locker room, and leaves it all out on the floor every night.”

Seidel, 22, was selected No. 29 overall (fourth-round) in September’s NLL Draft after graduating from Robert Morris University. During his four years in college, Seidel appeared in 40 career games and totaled three points (2G, 1A), 21 ground balls and 15 caused turnovers. With his 6-foot-6, 255-pound frame, Seidel gives the Swarm a big, tall defender on the backend with great potential. This past summer, the Edmonton, Alberta native gained valuable playing experience with the WLA’s Langley Thunder and was teammates with Swarm goaltender Brodie MacDonald.

“During the draft, we were looking to add a defenseman with size and toughness, and Michael fits that bill,” Arlotta said. “We’re excited about his future here in Georgia, and we’ve heard positive things about him from his teammates at Robert Morris.”
