Swarm Announces 2022-23 Schedule

DULUTH, Ga. (September 19, 2022) – The National Lacrosse League and Georgia Swarm announced the team’s full 18-game schedule for the 2022-23 season. After starting last season at home and then going on a four-game away campaign, this season Georgia begins the year with three-straight home games, starting on opening weekend, Dec. 3.

For the second year in a row, the Swarm open the season in Gas South Arena. This year, Georgia hosts the Rochester Knighthawks on Saturday, Dec. 3 at 8:00 PM ET. The Swarm is 1-0 against the new aged Rochester Knighthawks on opening night as they defeated them 14-4 in Rochester on Nov. 30, 2019. Georgia is also on a six-game win streak against Rochester picking up three wins in 2019, one in 2020, and two last season.

Following opening day, the squad goes on a bye week and pick up play once again at home. On Saturday, Dec. 17, Georgia invites Division rival, the Philadelphia Wings to town. The one-goal OT loss to the Wings on April 30, 2022, is what knocked the Swarm out of the playoffs last season. The last five matchups between the two franchises have been decided between one goal… This will be a game you definitely don’t want to miss.

The Swarm host their final of three-straight home games on Saturday, Jan. 7 against the 2021-22 NLL runner-up’s, the Buffalo Bandits before they play their first away contest which is a back-to-back series against the Bandits in Buffalo on Saturday, Jan. 14.

The six remaining home games span across two Fridays, three Saturdays, and one Sunday. The Swarm host all Eastern Division teams once except for Rochester who they battle twice in Gas South Arena (Dec. 3 and March 12).

The Swarm also play a three-game series against the Albany FireWolves, twice on the road (March 4 and April 15) and once at home on Feb. 25. This matchup will feature three of the four Thompson Brothers. Lyle Thompson and Miles Thompson suit up with the Swarm, as the second oldest brother Hiana Thompson plays for the FireWolves.

Georgia hosts one Western Division team this season, the Saskatchewan Rush on Saturday, April 8. Since defeating the Rush 15-14 on June 11, 2017 to claim the NLL Champions Cup, the two teams have gone head to head three times with the series being 2-1 in Georgia’s favor.

The Swarm’s lone Western Division road game is against 2021-22 NLL Champions, the Colorado Mammoth on Friday, Feb. 3. The last time these two faced each other was on opening night last season where the Mammoth topped the Swarm, 16-11.

This year’s doubleheader weekend begins on Friday, March 31 when the New York Riptide pay Georgia a visit. Following the Friday night lights matchups, the team will make the trek to Halifax that Saturday to face the Thunderbirds on Sunday, April 2.
