GEORGIA SWARM BEGIN FOUR-GAME ROAD SERIES

DULUTH, GA. (FEBRUARY 9, 2024) –The Georgia Swarm will begin their four-game road trip this weekend at 7 p.m. at Blue Cross Arena against the Rochester Knighthawks. As a reminder, these two teams will play each other again in their last regular season game on April 19 in Duluth, GA.

The Swarm are coming in with excitement after snapping their three-game losing streak in last week’s overtime game against the Vancouver Warriors 12-11. Swarm rallied to a game winning goal from Andrew Kew on a shot clock buzzer beater. Kew led the Swarm to victory with 8 points (4G,4A) followed by Seth Oakes with 7 points (5G,5A).

Rochester also faced a close game against the Buffalo Bandits this past weekend. Rochester came out on fire in the fourth quarter, scoring six goals in a row, however it wasn’t enough as they dropped to the Bandits 14-15. Rochester was led by Ryan Smith with 11 points (5G, 6A) and Connor Fields with nine points (4G, 5A).

This week’s game between Swarm and Rochester will be a fair game. Swarm’s biggest threat is forward Connor Fields, who leads the Knighthawks with 46 points (22G, 24A). Ryan Smith is right behind Fields in points (46), goals (23) and assists (23). Another key opponent could be former Swarm player Ryan Lanchbury, who was traded to the Knighthawks earlier this season. Lanchbury is the Cavaliers’ third offensive player this season, scoring 28 points, 8 goals and 20 assists.

As for Swarm, the big three players, Lyle Thompson, Shayne Jackson and Andrew Kew lead the Swarm’s offense season with 134 points combined. The Swarm has had 32 power plays, 12 of which were on target this season.

Defensively, goaltender Brett Dobson continues to make improvements and be a net threat, only giving up 11.70% goals at the net. Even more impressively, Jeremy Thompson has picked up 64 loose balls this season, while Adam Wiedemann continues to be a threat on the court, blocking 14 shots this season alone.

Georgia will have a bye next weekend before a doubleheader weekend on the road against the San Diego Seals and Panther City. The team will travel to Halifax the following weekend on March 1st before returning home for Heroes Night on Friday, March 8 at Gas South Arena.
