Georgia Swarm Clinches Nail-Biting Win Against Buffalo Bandits

DULUTH, GA. (January 2, 2024) – The Georgia Swarm (3-1) finished their three-game road trip against the Buffalo Bandits (1-2) at KeyBank Center in Buffalo on December 29, 2023. In a tight contest, the Swarm secured a 9-8 victory with a one-point lead. 

Shayne Jackson led the Swarm’s offense, scoring a goal in each quarter for a total of 4 goals and contributing 3 assists. Andrew Kew added 2 goals and 5 points. The Swarm took 67 shots on goal, led by Andrew Kew with 10, while the Bandits took 81 shots, led by Josh Byrne with 10. Defensively, both teams recorded blocks (Swarm 6, Buffalo 5), and penalties were minimal. Brett Dobson made 46 saves out of 54 shots, while TJ Comizio scooped up 11 loose balls. 

Entering the fourth quarter tied at 5-5, Buffalo’s Chris Cloutier and Josh Byrne scored 24 seconds apart to take the lead. However, the Swarm staged a comeback, with Lyle Thompson scoring twice, and Shayne Jackson and Andrew Kew each contributing a goal. With 1:41 remaining, the Swarm held a 9-7 lead. 

Buffalo scored with 22 seconds left, making it 9-8 in favor of the Swarm. Despite losing the faceoff, the Swarm’s defense managed to prevent the Bandits from tying the game, securing their hard-fought victory. 

Looking ahead, the Georgia Swarm will return to Gas South Arena on Saturday, January 6, 2024, to face Panther City for SBL Night at 7:30 pm EST.
