Georgia Swarm Clinch Victory Over Colorado Mammoth for the Second Time 15-8  

DULUTH, GA — The Georgia Swarm emerged victorious for the second time against the Colorado Mammoth on December 22, 2023 at Ball Arena, securing a 15-8 triumph. 

Goalie Brett Dobson reached a significant milestone in his career, surpassing 1,000 minutes played during the first quarter. Dobson’s stellar performance included 42 saves, highlighted by two extraordinary back-to-back saves without a stick, earning him a spot in the top 10 ESPN plays on December 22,2023. 

The game kicked off with an explosive start for Georgia, as forward Lyle Thompson scored just 34 seconds into the match, securing an early 1-0 lead. The Swarm continued to dominate, capitalizing on a pass from Mike Manley and defenseman Liam Byrnes making it three-straight goals for the away team just 15 seconds later. 

Shayne Jackson extended the Swarm’s lead, and Andrew Kew added another goal through a give-and-go effort, bringing the score to 5-3. The second quarter saw Georgia’s momentum continue, with Brendan Bomberry and Seth Oakes contributing to a 7-3 lead. 

Despite a strong effort from Mammoth Dillon Ward, the Swarm maintained an 8-3 lead at halftime, with Bryan Cole’s goal adding to the advantage. The third quarter saw Mammoth’s Robinson completing a hat trick, narrowing the gap, but Georgia responded with goals from Jordan McIntosh and Oakes, restoring a five-goal lead. 

Connor Kelly’s fourth-season goal for Mammoth brought the score to 10-6, but the Swarm, led by Bomberry and Oakes, extended their lead to 14-6 by the end of the quarter. Zach Miller sealed the victory with another goal in transition fashion, securing a 15-8 win for the Swarm. 

Shayne Jackson led the scoring efforts with a remarkable seven-point showcase (1g, 6a), while Lyle Thompson (2g, 4a) and Seth Oakes (4g, 1a) each earned their place in the five-plus-point club. 

With this impressive victory, the Georgia Swarm now prepares to face the Buffalo Bandits on the road before returning home on Jan. 6 to host Panther City for Swarm Box League Night.
