If the season ended today…

The East Division is already set for the postseason. Following the Bandits 12-6 win against the Black Wolves last Saturday and the Swarm’s 19-14 loss to the Philadelphia Wings, the Bandits clinched first in the East, home-floor advantage in every round of the playoffs they advance to and the best record in the NLL with a game left for them to play. No matter what happens in the final games this upcoming weekend, it will not change the playoff positioning in the East.
The No. 1 seed Buffalo Bandits will take on the No. 4 seed New England Black Wolves on Saturday, May 4 at KeyBank Center.
The No. 2 seed Georgia Swarm will take on the No. 3 seed Toronto Rock on Monday, May 6 at Infinite Energy Arena.
|Team||GP||W||L||W%||GB||West Div W-L|
|San Diego Seals||17||10||7||.588||–||8-4|
The four West Division teams advancing to the postseason were also finalized last weekend, but the top spot has yet to be claimed. The Mammoth became the last West team to clinch their postseason berth as the Vancouver Warriors fell 18-6 to the Rochester Knighthawks. No matter what happens this upcoming weekend, the Mammoth will be the No. 4 seed in the West.
Up top is a different story. The Rush, Seals and Roughnecks can all finish 10-8; the Rush take on the Mammoth on Saturday, April 27, and the Seals welcome the Bandits on the same night. If they both lose on Saturday, then things get complicated.
The Rush took the season series against the Seals, the Seals won the season series against the Roughnecks, and the Roughnecks have the season series against the Rush. At that point, whoever has the better division record comes into play. The Rush and Seals would be 8-4 against western opponents, the Roughnecks 6-6.
In this instance, the Roughnecks would finish third, the Seals second, and the Rush first. If the Rush and Seals both win this weekend, then it would go Roughnecks third, Seals second, Rush first since the Rush have the tiebreaker against the Seals.
The only way for the Roughnecks to gain home-floor advantage in the West Division Semifinals is if the Rush drop this upcoming game against the Mammoth and the Seals win and clinch first place. The Roughnecks and Rush would both finish 10-8, and the Roughnecks have the season series against the Rush.
