Managing Editor and Lacrosse Operations
Ty Merrow

Merrow is the Swarm’s Managing Editor and Lacrosse Operations. He is entering his fifth season with the Swarm. Merrow started with the Swarm in 2016 as an intern in the Swarm’s media department, working his was into a full-time role with the team and taking on more and more responsibilities with each passing Swarm season.

In his role as the Swarm’s Managing Editor, Merrow oversees all content production for the Swarm website and social media properties, while also maintaining those assets and posting Swarm content on them. He handles the writing and distribution of all Swarm press materials, including interviews, game previews, recaps, player transactions, and media guides. Merrow created the Swarm’s featured content pieces – the Hive Five, highlighting key facts about upcoming Swarm events and notable news in a fun and engaging manner, and Film Room, breaking down key plays in Swarm games to help educate fans on the finer nuances of the Swarm players’ actions. He also designed the Swarm’s revamped Box Lacrosse 101 section on the Swarm website to be more engaging and help better educate the growing Swarm fanbase in Georgia. For the 2019-20 season, Merrow was put in front of a camera for the Swarm’s 3 Things We Learned segment, a video series designed to offer insight from the Swarm’s resident expert about recent Swarm performances. In the same season, he was responsible for producing the Swarm’s new podcast series – Shoot & Score with LT4, where lacrosse superstar Lyle Thompson interviewed two of his teammates each episode and discussed growing up, life, and lacrosse; and The Swarm Stingcast, which examined the Swarm’s recent big stories and performances. The latter was also hosted by Merrow. He also handles front office messaging, writing email and website copy for marketing purposes, and maintaining franchise statistics.

Merrow also supervises the Swarm’s Lacrosse Operations department. Duties include but are not limited to organizing player travel and accommodations in-season, equipment ordering and management, handling immigration matters, drafting and keeping track of player contracts, coordinating players for camps and clinics, facility rentals, overseeing turf installation on gamedays, and handling additional duties as necessitated by Swarm Owner and General Manager John Arlotta.

As a non-traditional college student, Merrow graduated from Georgia Gwinnett College in Lawrenceville, Ga. in 2018 with a Bachelor of Arts in English with a Writing and Rhetoric concentration. Prior to his career in sports, Merrow worked for a decade in management for Westdale Asset Management and Regal Cinemas.

Merrow is a passionate fan of lacrosse and more often than not has an old lacrosse game going on a second screen – he doesn’t care who wins, just that a good game is played. A bitter Southerner, he currently resides in Buford, Ga., where he spends his free time crafting cocktails, cooking, running, playing jazz guitar and piano, and reading. Outside of lacrosse, Merrow fervently roots for the Atlanta Braves, Colorado Avalanche, and San Antonio Spurs.
