The Georgia Swarm added Joel White to its 20-man Active Roster this afternoon. The veteran transition player will join the team for its doubleheader weekend against the Colorado Mammoth and Toronto Rock. Faceoff for tonight’s home game against the Mammoth is set for 7:35 p.m. ET.
Last season, White appeared in seven regular season games and posted six points (1G, 5A), scooped up 67 LB and six CT. In the Swarm’s postseason sweep, White recorded nine points (3G, 6A), 31 LB and seven CT. White scored the game-tying goal in Game 2 of the Champion’s Cup Finals with three seconds left in regulation, forcing overtime. The Swarm would win its first-ever Champion’s Cup in overtime.
Selected No. 10 overall in the 2011 NLL Draft by the Rochester Knighthawks, White was acquired by the Swarm in a trade with New England during the 2015 NLL season. The deal also netted the Swarm a second-round pick in the 2017 NLL Draft for transition player Andrew Suitor. White had a breakout year in 2016 when he set career highs in points (16), loose balls (143) and caused turnovers (32).
The Syracuse University alum started the 2017-18 season on the Hold Out List due to personal reasons.
In his NLL career, White has 61 regular season points (20G, 41A), 641 LB and 103 CT in 80 games. The Cortland, N.Y. native also has 12 points (4G, 8A) in the postseason, in addition to 44 LB and 12 CT.
In a corresponding move, the Swarm has placed Kiel Matisz on the Injured Reserve List from the Active Roster. Matisz sustained a lower body injury in the Swarm’s game against the Toronto Rock two weeks ago.
Tonight, The Swarm is hosting Ladies Night at The Hive presented by Atlanta Sports X 1230 & 106.3 FM and 680 The Fan. Georgia will host its inaugural Diamond Drop during halftime, where one lucky lady will win a three-quarter carat Forevermark Diamond Necklace valued at $7,500, courtesy of Tara Fine Jewelry Co.
